We have now opened up a second Beaver Coloney, with new leaders and the places filling up, this is being a great success.
For our last group night of 2011, we held a family Xmas Quiz night.
Our resident Quiz Master Steve did another great quiz, and we had a surprise visit from Santa and Frosty the Snowman
Christmas Bag Pack
We did another Bag Pack at our local Iceland store. Geoff & Margo with the help of some beavers, cubs and scouts raised a total of £282.30
We collected just over 12,000 wish tokens this time around. This has given us total of £106.99, which will help towards the running costs of our HQ. We would like to thank everyone who helped us collect tokens this year, this has been our best year so far.
We received some good news recently when we found out that our application to the Norton Education Foundation had been successful. We had applied for help towards the purchase of our own archery equipment. We have now purchased our equipment, and done the work required so we can now use this indoors and outdoors. We are now planning our section archery nights. We are also planning a family archery competition when the weather is a bit better, which could become an annual event if it is a success.
We held a bonfire evening for all our sections, as well as Stockton North Explorer Unit and our neighbouring scout troop from 6th Norton. It was well attended and we all enjoyed a few campfire songs and watching the Guy's burn, one made by the Scouts and the other by the beaver leaders, followed by soup and a few fireworks
Our 4 Scout leaders and 1 of our Cub leaders recently attended Bradley Wood campsite near Leeds for the "Grim Up North" Weekend, organised by North Yorkshire Scouts, activities included Climbing, Air Rifle Shooting, Backwoods cooking (skinning rabbit and Pigeon), Camp Fire, knotting, rope making (from twine and nettles), Our cub leader couldnt resist the glue and glitter being used in the handcrafts session, and our knotting man came away with the challenge of tying a figure of eight knot inside a glass bottle, He's found a bottle, but as yet there is no knot inside it.
