Loved all of my time in cubs and scouts, some memories that
stick out are: - Brian Clarke being baptised with a cow turd by Trotter (Reeth) - Young lad called Murdoch having a severe bout of diarrhoea
whilst on a day-hike, we all wondered why he
wouldn't sit down on the mini-bus back to camp. His pants were last seen
floating down the river, he decided they weren't worth saving - Busting my lip open when hit by a water container whilst
loading the van the night before a Glaisdale camp
(1987?) - Trotter's numerous dodgy cars (the purple morris
marina with the broken speedo) - Making balloons with plaggy bags and cotton wool soaked with parafin, it was only a matter of time before we set the field alight.
- Have you seen the muffin man? - Making air bombs with the empty pop bottles on the fire. - Beck Football. - That '*?@#!¬ lonely tree at Newbiggin. - I look forward to attending the celebrations this year, well done to all and keep up the good work. |
| Simon Swan | Scout | 1977 to 1982 |
fantastic enjoyment even putting tents up on a rainy 1st night camp
in a howling gale in July 1977 in Glaisdale look
forward to here from anybody. |

I still remember fondly my days with 1st Norton, The Highlights:- - The old mill and the gas lamps that attempted to light the place. - Moving to the new scout hut...with
hindsight it was a shame to lose the mill but we loved the new place. |
| Keith Ryan | Scouts & Leader | 1959 to 1965 | A very important time of my life, growing up and being influenced by the likes of 'Skip', lots of fun at camp in various places, learning all the time, very formative years, I look back with great affection. |
| Colin Mickleburgh | Venture & Leader | 1961 to 1968 | I joined the "Seniors" in 1961 having moved to Norton from East Anglia. I later became an Assistant Scout Master, I have wonderful memories of The Mill and just the terrific times we had during that period. More importantly my memories of the Huckle family, truly a wonderful family and representing the very best of what family life was and the traditions of scouting was and is. |
